AWH Colour Creations Blog Hop - Week 2: Balmy Blue

I started so well with the 2020-2021 Colour Creations Showcase. But once I had missed a few I found it hard to get back into it because I had not wanted to miss any. I guess it was a bit like when you break a diet and say - oh well I've stuffed up, so why continue.

This time I am not putting any pressure on myself. I am not going to say I will take part every week cause lets face it - I've already blown that - I missed Week 1. I will do what I can, when I can.

This week participating team members are creating using Balmy Blue. (I'll apologise in advance for the quality of my photos - they are a bit dark/shadowy as one of my lights has blown).

.

As you can see, I paired Balmy Blue with Pumpkin Pie to create this birthday card, which I think is suitable for anyone! The card base is Balmy Blue Cardstock, the matt is Whisper White and the Balmy Blue patterned paper is from the Subtles DSP.

I used the Hey Birthday Chick Stamp Set. I stamped the chicken/cake image in Soft Suede and coloured using Stampin' Blends (Balmy Blue, Pumpkin Pie, Poppy Parade, Soft Suede & retired Mango Melody - should have used a current yellow for the flame - Daffodil Delight 😉The image was cut using a die from the coordinating Birthday Chick Dies.

I used the Stitched Rectangles Dies to make the "windows" on the card front.

The banners and the cute little chick are from the Birthday Chick Dies.

Because of the two "windows", the inside was basically done by the time I finished the front of the card. All I had to do was adhere a narrow strip of the Balmy Blue DSP, taking care to make sure it did not show through the window when the card was close (spoiler alert - I know you have to be careful cause the strip I originally adhered was too big and showed through the lower window 🤦)

That's it from me. Now it's time to hop on over to our next participant, the very talented Vicki Boucher!
