AWH Colour Creations Showcase - Week 18: Gorgeous Grape

Welcome to Week 18 of the Art with Heart Colour Creations Showcase where each week participants create using one of Stampin' Up!'s gorgeous colours - and this weeks it's Gorgeous Grape!

My card starts with a Whisper White card base and I have completely covered the card front with a piece of DSP from the 6 x 6 Brights DSP pack.

For a bit of added interest I cut the DSP so it was large enough to cover a portion of the back of the card, as seen in the picture below. I think it makes the spine of the card look neater. What do you think?

Once adhered, I daubed the DSP edges (including the spine), with Gorgeous Grape ink using a Stamping Sponge

I added a Whisper White and a Gorgeous Grape mat and then daubed a smaller piece of Whisper White cardstock on which I stamped images from the Daisy Lane stamp set.

I stamped the large daisy in Gorgeous Grape in the top right hand corner twice, the second one slightly offset from the first. The stem/leaves are stamped in Pear Pizzaz.

I also stamped the large daisy twice on a scrap piece of Whisper White and punched out both daisies using the Daisy punch. They were stuck together (offset) with a Stampin' Dimensional and then adhered to the card with a couple of Glue Dots. I used Wink of Stella on the centre of the daisy.

A strip of Gorgeous Grape cardstock and some Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon were added to the card first.

The mats/stamped images were then adhered with Stampin' Dimensionals, giving even more dimension to the card. And I added some Basic Pearls. No greeting on this card tonight - I've left it as an "any occasion" card.

Finally, the inside was finished off with piece of Whisper White on a Gorgeous Grape mat.  I stuck a narrow strip of the DSP on the Whisper White. Looking at the card now as I type this post, I realise that I forgot to dauber the Whisper White on the inside of the card to match the outside. Oh well!

I hope you can drop by next week.

  1. Beautiful, Fiona! I like how you wrapped the DSP around the spine of the card; I've not seen that done before, but it gives a lovely finish. I also really like how you stamped the daisy on the front panel, then punched out extra layers to give it dimension. Beautifully put-together card.

  4. I love your card Fiona, I almost made a daisy card as I still had the punches still sitting on my desk. I love how you have wrapped the DSP around the spine. Why we have never thought to do that before I have no idea.

  6. I love your attention to detail Fiona. The little touches like the wrapped DSP and all that sponging on the edges really take this card to the next level.
