AWH Colour Creations Showcase - Week 2: Basic Gray

Well I’ve made it to Week 2 of the AWH Colour Creations Showcase 👏👏👏

Each week various members of the Art With Heart team will explore one of the 50 Stampin’ Up! Colours which are available in coordinating products for you to use in your crafting. This includes stamp pads, water based and alcohol markers, cardstock, pattern paper, ribbon and embellishments.

If you missed my project last week using Balmy Blue you can see it here.

This week we are exploring Basic Gray.

This card was partly inspired by the 12 week old foster kitten currently in my care - Calypso.

Calypso has not been well this past week, requiring medication morning and night. Being contagious she could not mingle with our others cats so I had to keep her confined.  My craft room actually doubles as our feline foster room so I’ve been spending ALOT of time there.

Once she is ready for her little operation, she will go back to Animal Aid in Coldstream (https://animalaid.org.au) where she will be available for adoption.  She is a gorgeous kitten - a demanding little thing with a LOUD personality. She loves sitting on my lap or chest. She even helps me craft. This is Calypso on my craft table, keeping me company whilst I made last week’s card.

She is actually sitting on my lap as I draft this post, grabbing my hands and purring. She is adorable!

Anyway, enough of the kitten - you want to know about the card don’t you?

I started with a Basic Gray card base and a slightly smaller Whisper White matt. I then took a piece of Basic Gray and embossed it with the Bricks and Mortar 3D Embossing Folder and cut it 3mm smaller than the Whisper White matt. I cut the 'window' using the large square from the Stitched Shapes Dies.

Using a sponge dauber and basic gray ink I inked up some of the bricks.

The greeting is from the Rooted in Nature Stamp Set. It is stamped in Black Memento ink on Whisper White cardstock and hand cut.

I punched the Cat in Basic Black using - you guessed it - the Cat Punch. I raised the cat slightly using  dimensionals.

I also cut a black cat for the inside of the card.

I hope you like my card featuring Basic Gray. Please click here for the list of this week's participants to see what they have made.

I hope you can check in with us next week to see what we create with Bermuda Bay.

Thanks for dropping by.

  4. Fiona, the sponging on your embossed brick panel is fantastic! It really brings those bricks to life. I love the cat on the inside of the card as well, looking like it's sneaking around the corner of the card.
